Who We Are
Vinay Malkani, CEO
Mr. Malkani is a computer technologist with 20+ years of industry experience. In addition to working as a technology leader at various large companies, he has founded, advised, and managed startups in a variety of stages, from initial conception all the way through to acquisition and IPO. He assumes the role of CEO from that of Figure Eight Federal’s Chief of Engineering, where he has overseen the development of multi-sensor data and AI scaffolding solutions for the defense and intelligence sector. Before joining Figure Eight Federal, Malkani served as Mayfield Robotics’ head of cloud engineering, where he oversaw the architecture, design, security, implementation, and operation of Mayfield’s cloud strategy. Mayfield worked on pushing the forefront of technology in the field of home robotics and won several CES awards.
Scott Swilley, BD Director
Consistently delivered results over 25-year career serving as an engineer, GEOINT/Space expert, and program manager. Scott provided direct support to Project MAVEN includes program management, AI/ML pipeline design, delivery operations, and program transition to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). Scott is a highly successful US Army Engineer Officer, commanding combat organizations, while deployed, from platoon through battalion command. Solutioning expert in engineering, plans, policy, SOPs and extensive studies dealing with national issues, senior level management, and political objectives through broadening assignments on the Joint Staff and at the NGA.
Kimberly Robertson, Director of Operations
Kimberly “Kim” Robertson is an experienced Operations and Program Manager with over 20 years of expertise in program management, operations, and strategic planning for technical programs, particularly in High Performance Computing and software development. Having held leadership roles in both large and small businesses, she offers a comprehensive perspective on federal contracting, shaped by her work with a wide range of Defense and Civilian Federal markets, including agencies such as NOAA, NASA, NAVSEA, NRL, HHS, and EPA. As the Operations Director at Figure Eight Federal, Kim leverages her extensive knowledge in government contracting, client relationship management, and operational excellence to benefit all customers and partners. She holds a BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry, an MBA with a concentration in business execution, and certifications including Project Management Professional (PMP) and ITIL.
Tim Klawa, Head of Product
Tim Klawa is a technology leader specializing in product innovation and the accelerated adoption of cutting-edge technology for defense and intelligence clients. With extensive experience in the intelligent transportation systems industry, Tim has held key positions focused on providing technology consulting to government clients. He has led product efforts at a globally renowned company Kapsch, driving advancements and adoption of connected vehicle technology, data mesh, AI detection systems, and advanced decision support systems. Tim leads the Figure Eight Federal (F8F) product portfolio specialisting supporting complex AI use cases and enabling key integrations and partnerships across the defense and intelligence sector. His expertise and vision have been instrumental in transforming complex technological challenges into streamlined, impactful solutions for F8F clients.
Matt Lopez, Head of Analytics
Matt Lopez brings an extensive background in insurance and banking to his role as Head of Analytics. With a proven track record of driving data transformation and analytic optimization, Matt specializes in leveraging data-driven insights to enhance operational efficiency and streamline processes. His expertise in developing innovative strategies and fostering a culture of analytics ensures continuous improvement and measurable results across the organization. Matt’s leadership and forward-thinking approach make him a vital asset in delivering impactful solutions for complex challenges.
Calvin Durgin, Director of Contracts
Calvin Durgin serves as the Director of Contracts at F8F, bringing a wealth of expertise in contract management and negotiation. With extensive experience overseeing complex contracts across diverse industries, Calvin is adept at ensuring compliance, mitigating risk, and driving value for the organization.
